Love Warriors
Imagine More Love
February is a very dreary month in many parts of the world, so it’s easy to forget that it is also the month when we celebrate the most powerful force on earth - love. It’s actually quite extraordinary that a species that can be unspeakably hateful, destructive, and evil to our fellow man and our planet home actually stops to acknowledge and celebrate love, albeit for one day. For most, Valentine's Day is a celebration of romantic love, which is a beautiful connector between two people lucky enough to find it. But if we take a look at love past the intimate relationship, chocolates, and greeting cards, we might start to wonder why we don’t celebrate this with the rest of humanity every single day. Imagine how different our personal loves would be and how many maladies and hardships would be unburdened. Imagine what the world would look like if we saw examples of this on the nightly news, mainstream, and social media. Imagine.
There are many negative energies on this earth that we humans continue to accept, like war, jealousy, greed, racism, manipulation, self-sabotage, abuse, and a million more. These are all very low vibrational energies and are usually tied to the base needs of the ego mind. They serve those who are not brave enough or are too lazy to vibrate higher. It is amazing to me that we have come so far in civilization with highly elevated things like wondrous art and architecture, marvels of engineering, and music so beautiful that it could bring one to tears. Yet, we still can’t seem to elevate humanity above the crude need for war and destruction. Perhaps it is because so many of us have been replaying generational, negative programming in our lives and minds without stopping to realize what we’re doing, question its origins, and see how we are propagating it. It’s sad to think that it’s easier to hurt another human being because they think, look, or worship differently than it is to love them because we are ultimately all the same. It is these lower vibrational energies, that we continue to allow, that keep us in the pain and darkness that blankets us personally and as a collective. We are making this choice, consciously or unconsciously.
Vibrate Higher
Love is the highest vibrational energy there is. It is such a force that we humans feel totally fabulous when we encounter it. It has inspired art and acts of human generosity that have had immeasurable impact. Its power has no equal. Unconditional love and its sister, compassion, exist above the lower vibrational operatives and are not tainted by conditions, limitations, prejudices, or requirements. Love is pure because of its absence of negative energies. The sad irony is that we are all capable of transcendence to a higher vibrational field where we would always emit and feel love. So why in the world don’t we commit to it like we commit to getting our morning coffee or brushing our teeth? If we all have the capacity to make it, then what in the world are we doing with our precious lives instead? Love is the antithesis of so many other emotions that darken our human experience, and it has the ability to lift our moods and change our human experience. It’s the magic pill! It’s the secret handshake. It’s the key that fits all locks.
Why aren’t there people clamoring to be superheroes of love? Where are the social media influencers of love? Who are the politicians devoted to nations of love? Why aren’t we all warriors of love? I can’t think of anything more noble to fight for.
Love has been studied from every physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual angle there is. Yet, so few can honestly say they understand how to harness more of it in their lives. Often, we’re lacking in it because we’re not prioritizing it over otherworldly grabs like money, power, and the accumulation of “stuff.” But before we can give real unconditional love to another, we must first be able to love ourselves. We are often told to give to others first, but this is one instance where we can’t give what we do not feel ourselves. And in a world where love is not the top priority, we can see how it is in such short supply.
Some were raised by brutal parents or harsh cultures that believe love spoils children and makes people weak, ascribing competitiveness, dominance, and “winning at all costs” as characteristics to be admired. Some fear love because it does connect us to others. Many people live solitary or very inauthentic lives because they mistakenly equate the bonding that happens with love to a loss of their power or an obligatory bond that restricts them or asks for accountability in some way. With unchallenged beliefs like that, it’s no wonder that so many people have little or none in their lives. But living without an abundance of love is a choice, and there are opportunities for it everywhere if we just open our eyes and hearts to it.
How Can You Give More Love?
One of the easiest ways to get love is to give more love to others, not just those in our immediate family or circle. Smiling or saying hello to a stranger costs nothing, yet its rewards can change the trajectory of someone's day and yours, too. Greater gestures like helping those in need are simple things that drop our shields and open ourselves up to the opportunity to give to another and raise the vibration of the giver and the receiver. Another is to meditate or journal on gratitude. It’s hard to feel lack when concentrating one's attention on their abundance and blessings. Did you know that love has scientifically been proven to carry a unique frequency, which is 528Hz? I fall asleep every night to audio works tuned to that frequency. Even if it’s a placebo, I like to think that I am raising my vibration to one of love even when I sleep.
Let’s all challenge ourselves to turn a day devoted to love into a life devoted to love.
